As a reflection of where I want to travel this week in my work, I look back on last week where I made a conscious effort to complete (tentatively) one project. It looked complete by the end of the day but as I scoured the house for various items for other projects, I found some old wire clad in clear plastic that I wanted to use on the wheels of the pony cart I made out of tin cans and corks. So as it stands today I still have one wheel to finish before I am completely done. And the project lapses into another week. The whole piece is quite nice though the mechanics of it all had to be compromised due to the harness to the cart being a little big for the pony.
Head is a wine cork with tin can mane, body is a champagne cork with a wire tail. I wrapped some bright orange brocade around the body for color and the legs are wire. The wagon is a sardine can with wire wheels clad (one so far) in plastic wire covering that I slit down the middle to wrap around the wheels. There are small sticks that attached to the wagon that slide into the harness on the pony. The harness is made from the straps of a pair of remodeled sandals. I took an old leather necklace cord for the reins leaving a couple of beads for decor. My favorite parts are the mane and the tail, why I like those parts so much is beyond me.
