If you can beat 'em join 'em - eucalyptus trees

Eucalyptus trees are not native to my area. Originally brought here for building materials it was discovered that they are completely useless since the wood curls as it dries. Decades later the hills are covered with a tree that sprouts like a weed until they catch fire and then they explode, not a good thing in an urban hill area, made very clear in the 1991 Oakland Hills Firestorm.
Recently after cutting a couple of the smaller new trees down, which were about 10 ft tall but no more than a couple of inches wide I couldn't bear to burn them or toss them out because of the wonderful curves in the main trunk of the tree. Instead I trimmed the branches and cut it to 8ft length and wedged it between the ceiling and floor of the main living area for a hat rack. Add some home made leaves and my view of those dastardly trees is better. Now where did I put my chain saw?
